Finding Forever

The search for home can lead in unexpected directions. Nobody said finding your forever home was going to be easy. But it’s worth it.

After discovering this Magnolia home, the family wasn’t initially impressed. This was not love at first sight. They didn’t see their future children running down the hallways on a Saturday morning. They left, and continued their search. But the home lingered in their minds. The seed was planted. And more and more thoughts kept wandering back to what this homestead could possibly be. The next time they went back they brought their contractor. That’s when the magic happened. Sometimes, you have to trust your imagination.

In the early 1900’s Magnolia was a booming summer vacation resort. The Penhallow family originally built this home in 1890. It was their “summer cottage” and part of an exclusive resort development.

The first forever home this family tried out was passed down from the grandparents. It carried their family history in the walls. But it also carried it's lifetime in the needed repairs.  It became clear that the work needed to be done was too extensive. They walked away from their family home with heavy hearts, but they walked away with hope. And what they found was a small slice of heaven in Magnolia

Sometimes we find home in unlikely places. In the corners we have already searched and in the places we’ve passed through. Sometimes we even think “oh this will be a nice home for someone” and then we carry on with our days. But as time passes, our minds keep returning to the same place. Sometimes it’s more than “just” your imagination.
