The Carriage House

This home began as a carriage house. Then it was a garage. Now, it’s a gorgeous 3 bedroom home. Over time, it has changed. It shares a story similar to many buildings in New England. It’s a story of growth and transformation.

We have all been in a place with an idea and intention, only to get to the other side and arrive at a completely different place then what we pictured. Often when we embark on a journey we change along the way, or the goal changes along the way. But we wouldn’t have started on the journey without first acting on our ideas and taking the first steps. Nothing ever goes the way you plan them too, and thats not a bad thing.

When Marimar Homes took on this project the plan was to renovate and flip this garage. This was going to be the first home to start the business and it turns out they are really great at this. Marie and Meg did too good of a job, and instead of selling it Meg decided it was the perfect new home for her. This place was just too good to let go. She didn’t go into this project looking for a new home, but that’s often the way life turns out.

Through unexpected journeys and twists in the road, we find ourselves ending up in unexpected places, and better than what we could have imagined. Plans change and the story shifts. We set goals, but by the time we get there everything is different. It may not be what you intended, but that doesn’t make it any less perfect. This home was built for horse and carriage. Now it’s the perfect place for one family to call home.
